Sometimes when it all falls apart…you need to pick up the pieces by yourself.

You think you have been through it all: you’ve lost some friends, you’ve lost some loves and even some family. You have hit the peaks with the biggest smiles and ran in to the ground with the heaviest tears. After you have lost it all, you think you have nothing left to give. That is until, you lose yourself.

The drama of your peers overwhelms you. The pressure of your expectations crushes you. The need to love and be loved leaves you feeling like you cannot breathe. When is it time to say, “enough is enough?”

When the world slowly comes to an end and the walls close in you need to rely on yourself. Your mom can’t see things the way you do. Your best friend won’t be able to walk a mile in your shoes. Your crush can’t think outside his six inch box.

You, however, know yourself: you know what and who you love and why, you know how to make the tears stop, you know what you need and what you can leave behind. No one will ever know the you you know. No one will ever understand why a twisted horror movie makes the problems fade away, why a six mile run takes the weight off your shoulders or why a long nap puts you in a good place.

So, when everything falls apart, don’t look around. Look inside. You are all you really have in the end, so make sure you know how to fix yourself. In order to be truly strong, you sometimes you need to pick up the pieces on your own.

It’s all right letting yourself go, as long as you can get yourself back.” ~ Mick Jagger
